Product Information
Stock Level6

PEQ500A is a full Pultec EQP-1A & EQP-1R type passive EQ circuit combined but with 8 extra low frequencies and 5 extra high frequencies. The BW (bandwidth) control for the high boost bell curve can go twice as wide as a normal Pultec and it can also do one thing I have never seen on any other Pultec or clone do. Pushing on the BW control will switch the high boost to a shelf with the BW control still varying the slope going into the shelf.

We can supply this EQ as a 51X version. If you want 51X version please mention this in the comments section when checking out.

  • The New A version has updated front panel graphics and uses expensive C0G caps for all audio caps for an extremely stable long-life EQ.
  • Pairs of PEQ500A are shipped with hand-matched inductors, pots, and transformers for precision stereo matching.

Features for each Channel

  • EQ In / out toggle switch with blue LED
  • Electronic Balanced discrete opamp input to allow for large input levels.
  • High Cut shelf from 0 to -16dB switchable to 5kHz, 10kHz, 20kHz.
  • High Boost bell / shelf with variable BW / Slope from 0 to +16dB switchable 1kHz, 1k5kHz, 2kHz, 3kHz, 4kHz, 5kHz, 8kHz, 10kHz, 12kHz, 16kHz, 20kHz, 25kHz.
  • Push on BW control switches from high boost bell to shelf with orange LED lit when in shelf mode
  • Low Cut shelf from 0 to -16dB switchable 10Hz, 20Hz, 30Hz, 40Hz, 60Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz, 160Hz, 200Hz, 240Hz, 300Hz.
  • Low Boost shelf from 0 to +16dB switchable 10Hz, 20Hz, 30Hz, 40Hz, 60Hz, 80Hz, 100Hz, 120Hz, 160Hz, 200Hz, 240Hz, 300Hz.
  • Large JLM111PCB output transformer.

One of the best 500 eq's out there...

I purchased the PEQ500 from Joe last year and use it both with audio running through it and with Waves Q-Clone (which I also highly recommend if you have some outboard eq's). I already have a Kush Electra, an SSL 611eq and a Great River Harrison 32C and the PEQ500 is my favourite eq for both individual instruments and for the mix buss. The build quality, sound quality and also Joe's service are all top notch. Highly recommended! Andrew Sweeney https://soundcloud.com/andrew-sweeney (Mon Apr 15 2019, 15:37 pm )

FREAKING AMAZING!

Got them today... popped in the Hybrids and put them in the rack, mastering a Klezmer trio album with them right now (Pendulum ES8 into these, and back into the DAW), FREAKING AMAZING! , WOW. Really enjoying the ability to open up wide swaths of upper mids and above with the shelf boost, insanely useful. I can't believe how quiet, honest, and clear these sound. Recalls are going to be fine, pretty easy to line up to the boost knobs with the engraved lines. I can see these are going to be used for the lovely air-lift on either mix bus or mastering, replacing a FIltek mk3 I was using for that purpose. I'm so extremely pleased, thank you so much for working with me on this. Don Godwin USA www.phantomcenter.org (Tue Sep 16 2014, 15:09 pm )

The Best EQ Out There!!

I'm only a part-time project studio guy (for now), but have quite a decent amount of pro equipment - API, Great River, Burl, Apogee, SSL, AnaMod, Slate etc etc. I have to say the PEQ500 is the single most dramatically game changing piece of gear I've ever used. Just simply putting a vocal through the PEQ500 literally doubles the size of it - I was amazed when I first plugged it in, and have since ordered two more to go on my mixbus. Keep up the great work Joe!! (Thu Jun 30 2011, 01:28 am )

PEQ500's are amazing

Dear Joe Thank you for the pair of PEQ500's. They are amazing. Bass guitar? Huge. Vocal? Male? Female? Rich. Beautiful. As an engineering tool? I have some original Quad Eight pres that are very useful but emphasize certain frequencies that are sometimes undesirable. Using your PEQ I was able to grab those areas and make them sing. Am I happy? Extremely. Am I reordering? Calling the accountant now . . . All the best, Tom Whitlock, USA.
