REPRO500 Kit BUILD THREAD

Post by Joe Malone »

Notes and Errata
1. Kits all have extra caps to change neck to bridge HPF to wider as suggested by some of our early users. See below new cap values to fit.
2. We have had some Black front panels the jack hole is tight. It is ok to file or drill the hole to correct roundness and size.
3. Make sure washer on Jack doesn't go outside the silver pcb area on the front panel or it could short and override the ground lift function.
4. With the tone pot set to fully CCW the output impedance is 100k so very good shielded guitar cables are needed. If you set the tone pot to fully CW the output impedance is 0ohm and you still have hum pull the tone pot outwards and if it is a ground loop the hum should stop.

Questions for early kit builders so we can improve and update the design. (Post on this thread or email me)
Kit builders helping with these questions will receive any updates to parts and pcbs.
1. First make sure you send full +18dBu line level to the REPRO500 XLR input.
2. With Gain pot fully CW would you still like more gain?
3. With Tone pot fully CCW are you having hum issues? Even with the Tone pot pulled out for ground lift?
4. What positions of the neck-to-bridge switch do you use most?
5. What volume and tone pot positions do you use most?

Suggested capacitor values fitted to pcb instead are

Fit 220nF instead of 470nF. (Changes HPF from 68Hz to 150Hz)
Fit 100nF instead of 330nF. (Changes HPF from 100Hz to 320Hz)
Fit 68nF instead of 220nF. (Changes HPF from 150Hz to 470Hz)
Fit 47nF instead of 100nF. (Changes HPF from 320Hz to 680Hz)

Fit 390pF across 2 pin output socket to make impedance control have more range with standard 20 foot guitar leads
