Re: BAD PCB and kits Now Available

Is a BA kit - with an output transformer vastly different from a API 312? See, I was thinking of doing an API 312 with a JLM 99V (kinda a APIish Neve thing) but rather than modifying an API 312 board slightly to accommodate the 99v I thought a BA with a 99v and output transformer might be similar - ...

Re: MAC - Micro Auto Compressor

Joe that's great! With every post that I see you do I get more and more excited about your gear. I know that sounds silly but... What was that in the background... something with a preamp tube in 500 series format! Another project you could consider producing for us... a 15 pin edge with solder poin...

Re: MAC - Micro Auto Compressor

So I'm toying with the idea of putting these Micro Auto Compressors into an API 500 format or in a DBX 900 case. This cuts down on power supply needs. I'm not sure if I could cram it all into a 500 series L Bracket. The meter (if I used the current one) might just barely fit in with 2 mm on either s...

Re: MAC - Micro Auto Compressor

Without the transformers is the output still pseudo balanced? I'm not sure if I'm saying that right - but it would be pin 2 hot/signal and pin 3 impedance matched to pin 2 (I think that is right).

Thanks.

Re: JLM Phantom Powered Active DI

Hey guys, Just finished up my discrete FET with transformer 'stage' DI. Fit into a Hammond Pedal box. Tight but it worked. A question, I have pin 1 connected to the box. I do have a ground lift which lifts pin 1 from ground. These DIs are plastic inputs so the grounds don't meet via the box. Is ther...

Re: TREX and TREX2 Transistor regulator kit

These look helpful. How much are they going to cost Joe (for a kit)?

Thanks.

That enclosure looks great. Is it available yet?

Re: A2D

I'm still eager for this original kit (please let me have it) ... but on the "new card lines" I wonder if some of the Focusrite stuff might do the job here. I know it is a little more expensive but: there's: http://www.focusrite.com/products/isa/isa_8channel_adc_compatible_with_isa_428_and_isa_828/ ...

Re: HUM PROBLEM --> JLM FetDI input jack

I'm not sure if you answered these suggestions already - but make sure you are not double powering the DI. Also, make sure pin1 on the gobetween ribbon is going to pin1 of the DI.

Re: HUM PROBLEM --> JLM FetDI input jack

How are you powering the DIs? If you are powering them from the GoBetween's phantom power - then I might be at a loss for suggestions. If you are powering them separate from the GoBetween (like the connectors right on the DIs) then there are two wires you need to take out of the ribbon that connects...

That is great! You should definately include said information in your description of the dINgO. Assuming access to a power supply this still comes in cheaper than transformer reamp designs and I imagine sonically better.

Is it possible or appropriate (more accurately) to use the dINgO as a REAMP device? So this would be taking a balanced line level signal and running it unbalanced into a guitar amp? I know that this would not provide floating ground without a transformer. That could be a disadvantage. Also would the...

You will be much better off fitting the DI with a jack like Chrisp suggested where you have a DPDT on the switch but not PCB board mounted. The jack with the DI is not very deep and can be easily stripped when placed on a panel. I have done it before. I'd suggest an external jack that you wire up to...

I would really love to see this kit available. Any sense of if it will happen? If not, I won't hold my breath and I'll look for something different.

Thanks guys for all the great kits that you do turn out.

Is there any way to have a phantom powered DI using this circuit and an audio ground lift? I can't think of a way because the ground is required for phantom power right?

Any suggestions besides an external power supply?
