Re: VU BUFFER KIT BUILD THREAD
What kind of meters will this board drive? I've a range of old meters that though they wont have full vu ballistics would certainly look good and thats what I'm thinking of for a particular project. Anyway what kind of rating should the meter have? M The VU buffer will drive basically any AC or DC ...

Re: DINGO PCB and kit Now Available
Hi, Just wondering about creating a spring reverb unit with the dingo. I'd like to make a stereo version and I'd like to be able to switch the length and density of reverb by switching in series multiple spring units (for length) or switching them into parallel (for density). Accutronics have varia...

MONO Mic pre kit works but gain control does nothing
MONO Mic pre kit works but gain control does nothing If you have signal but the gain does nothing usually means you have not fitted the RGain resistor or the Gain pot is faulty or not soldered to the PCB properly. To test the pot turn off the mic pre and with the back of the mic pre case removed pla...

MONO Mic pre kit building errors we have seen.
The Photo below shows in the red circles solder joints that didn't have enough heat to flow and join to the solder pads to the component legs and in the yellow circle a cold solder joint which always has a frosted look. Almost all solder joints in the photo have to much solder on them but some have ...

Re: VU BUFFER KIT BUILD THREAD
Just wondering. With the VU meter buffer board - would I simply through this on an output? Would my main output sound be messed with if I did that? Or should I have say a high impedance input unity gain opamp buffer first and then into the VU board? Anyone? Yes connect the VU buffer across the outp...

Re: AC/DC & POWERSTATION KIT BUILD THREAD
- unfortunately the negative voltage is still stuck on 40V with the trimmer not doing anything. I checked the 120R and it seems OK - could I have a dodgy LM337 or perhaps a short somewhere? Once again, thanks for pointing me in the right direction! I presume you mean stuck at -40v. The LM337 pinout...

Re: AC/DC & POWERSTATION KIT BUILD THREAD
Hello there. I've put together and AC/DC power supply. I'm using an RS transformer 30VA 25-0-25 . I'm getting 31V ac into the supply which seems a bit high, but perhaps OK under load? my problem is I'm getting +/- 40v and 80v for phantom. Trim pots are not operational. I've looked over the PCB 20 t...

Re: JLM small 34mm VU - QUESTION
Series Resistor value = (Power rail voltage - Led voltage {2v or 4v}) / o.o1 (30v rail - 4v)/0.01= 2600 (one 2.6K resistor) Shouldnt I use two resistors to spread the heat?? You can if you want but you don't need to. Wattage = (Power rail voltage - Led voltage {2v or 4v}) * o.o1 (30v rail - 4v) * 0...

Re: Valve Preamp & Compressor Kits- AT Interview
THIS is something I will be very keen to see a release for plus the compressors you mention in that interview Joe. Quite keen. I'm prepared to hold off on doing an LA2a build if you've got something coming out soon. Any rough dates at all for the valve pre and the new compressor(s)? The compressors...

Re: JLM small 34mm VU - QUESTION
DO NOT connect the LED in the 34mm meter directly across a 12v supply as there is only 1 x white LED in the 34mm small VU meter which is 2v so you will need a series resistor to run it on any voltage. If using 2 meters run them in series to get a 4v LED and run one resistor. Only the large VU meters...

Re: BA newbie's questions 2009
Really any thickness general hook up wire will do fine as remember this wire leads you to the input transformer winding which is super fine copper wire only as thick as hair.

Re: Valve Preamp & Compressor Kits- AT Interview
Here is the AT Interview on youtube. Hopefully it makes some sense as it was done just before I jumpered on a plane after 3 days and nights of talking way to much tech talk and no sleep. My relaxed state was from Andy's comfy couch and complete exhaustion. Yes there is a Baby Animal Tube kit coming....

Re: MAC - Micro Auto Compressor
Could I also build the dingo with mixed op-amps? Yes as long as they can run on the same power rails. I'd like to know what configuration of op-amps would give me the best color/price ratio. basic list from warmest to cleanest 2 x JLM99v + JLM111DC 2 x JLM99v no output transformer 1 x OPA2604A inpu...
