Re: 120 Watt Power Amp build thread.
I'm about to embark on a rebuild of my [insert low end name here] 30W guitar amp combo, and have tagged a 60W 10" Celestion as the driver so I can use the JLM kit. Big question to those who have gone this route before me: did you bother applying a low pass filter to the signal? Guitar drivers gener...

500 format Vs Full rack units...
Hi all
My question to you techonoligical savvy people is ...if I buy a Pre (say a TG or 99) in 500 format is it identical to a rack format version of the same pre?...just squashed into a smaller space?. Or are they different beasties with different sound characteristics?
Thanks
Mick

MP8 digitally controlled
Hi Joe In your MP8 product you mention digital control and recall. I wanted to clarify exactly what this means. I am working on building my second remote recording rig. The current one is based on a passive splitter at the stage with signals routed to 24 channels of rack pres back at the recording s...

OT - Splitting a mic signal ..one source two destinations.
Hi all Im way off topic re JLM kits but am hoping that someone here has the knowledge I need. I want to build a 24 channel mic signal splitter, one source with two destinations. I believe that this can be achieved simply by just building a Y connection. However, I have read that this is suseptable t...

G'Day Chris, the pre is to feed into the Amp rather than for recording purposes. I gave him a Presonus Eureka (which is a lovely little Pre-amp) but of course "we should build one Dad" is percieved as a much better idea by Sean!! I will be in it as having my teenage son wanting to spend time with me...

Recommendation for the best BAss guitar Pre-amp kit...
Ok, I know it would happen!!! Now that we have a 120Watt Power Amp runnign a funky bass guitar, the question naturally evolves into ...Weel if the Amp is this good, why dont we build a really good pre-amp for the Bass. Well, sucker Dad is going to be building again...(and love it 8) ) So recommendat...

Hey Mick, Chrisp has it right about the TG (except for the API comparison as its nothing like an API!). I have a mixed rack with a TG and a 99V pre and its just about the only mic pre box I use now. Between those two you can do almost anything, and they compliment eachother perfectly. I dont think ...

I'd love to make those monitors but I'm dumb as doggy doo. I'm gonna save and get the stuff and stress about it later. What's that big round thing in the middle Chrisp? Wow just had a look. You get all the stuff including led in the kit-awesome. I've been using an old Pioneer contempo mini hifi as ...

Hi all Sorry for not replying before this but life is somewhat hectic. Well the amp is complete and running really well. We got a 4X10 bass box from Lorenz and running the Presonus Eureka as the pre-amp. All sounds beaut. Had a few teething problems which were simple wiring errors that Joe fixed in ...

Its funny, Mick, that first time you actually switch your DIY on at the mains and wait for something to go bang, pop or start smoking. LEDs make a nice sizzling sound as they burn out. May your project go better than some of mine! :P I would type a smart-assc reply but the tips of my fingers are bu...
