Re: AC/DC & POWERSTATION KIT BUILD THREAD
Hi,
I have a single 20vac and I need just 48V. Now I bit puzzled with Doubler/Tripler thing but ver. 4 ( mine is v5 ) schematic shows that if Doubler position I don't need to populate the whole board. Am I on right track?

Re: AC/DC & POWERSTATION KIT BUILD THREAD
I've built a AC/DC 3 Rail Power Supply v5
and would like to ideally have a PSU setup to have +24V main power, +12V for LED/Relais, +48V phantom power and +/- 16v for Opamps.
I am aware that i cannot generate everything with the AC/DC 3 Rail Power Supply, but you maybe can guide me in the right direction.
Power draw is not much, maybe 500-700 mA for the 24V.

Is this all for one piece of equipment or to power several separate bits of gear?janczmok wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2026 4:35 amI've built a AC/DC 3 Rail Power Supply v5

I would use the ACDC to make +/-16vdc & 48v with a 2 x 18vac transformer. Not sure of VA as you don't mention any current needs for the +/-16v rails.
We do have a version of our V6 power supply which can run 4 positive power rails and 2 negative power rails called the C6. This would do all the power rails with up to 1.5A for all except the 48v rail would be about 200mA

Well. It is a modified GDR mixing desk with 51X module inserts and 48V modification. I don't need it all in one power supply; the other person who built it used 3 different PSUs.Joe Malone wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2026 10:46 amIs this all for one piece of equipment or to power several separate bits of gear?janczmok wrote: ↑Tue May 26, 2026 4:35 amI've built a AC/DC 3 Rail Power Supply v5

I was thinking about using it for the 16V and 48V ... Question is where do i get the 24V and 12V ? Power draw will likely not exceed 1 Amp.
The 51X modules will be powered by another beefier power supply solution irregardless of the desk.
If you're curious: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EZUApYatjLo
That is the desk i am working on "creating" for myself.

Re: AC/DC & POWERSTATION KIT BUILD THREAD
Hi,
I received my AC/DC V5 kit yesterday and assembled it carefully. Everything appears to be functioning correctly except for the phantom power adjustment.
The ±V rails are working as expected, but the +48V rail measures approximately 57V. The issue is that the phantom power trim pot has no apparent effect on the output voltage, no matter how many times I turn it.
I also tried changing the Doubler/Tripler jumper setting. In Tripler mode, the voltage increases to around 83V, but the trim pot still has no effect and the voltage remains unadjustable.
Could the trim pot be faulty, or is there something else I should check? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Cheers from Montreal,
Marc

Send me some photos of the top and bottom of the ACDC power supply.Khorus wrote: ↑Thu Jun 04, 2026 11:28 pmHi,

Are the 2 x LM317 and 1 x LM337 negative reg in the correct places?
Measure the ohms across the outside pins of that 48v trimpot to see what value you have it set to?
If you wind the trimpot down to more then 40v across the reg you will burn out the trim pot. So set the jumper back to doubler as 57v is correct going into the reg.

Re: AC/DC & POWERSTATION KIT BUILD THREAD
For the sake of completeness, I'm reporting back that the source of the problem was a faulty trimpot. After replacing it with a new one, the unit is now functioning correctly.
