Recommendation for the best BAss guitar Pre-amp kit...

Post by Mick@ITC »

Ok, I know it would happen!!! Now that we have a 120Watt Power Amp runnign a funky bass guitar, the question naturally evolves into ...Weel if the Amp is this good, why dont we build a really good pre-amp for the Bass.

Well, sucker Dad is going to be building again...(and love it 8) ) So recommendations please for the best Pre to build for a bass guitar... :P

Do you want to DI the bass or record the wonderful sound of that amp?

If the former, I'd simply go for a 1:4 99V BA build with the DI add-on. That will do justice to any guitar, bass or not.

Come to think of it, that's the way I'd go even if you mic the amp. But then you need to get a decent or semi-decent mic to go with it!

G'Day Chris, the pre is to feed into the Amp rather than for recording purposes. I gave him a Presonus Eureka (which is a lovely little Pre-amp) but of course "we should build one Dad" is percieved as a much better idea by Sean!! I will be in it as having my teenage son wanting to spend time with me is gold!!! 8)

Waiting for a price from Joe.

Will let you know how things go... Have a great easter holiday.
