I tried the realignment a bunch of times. Problem is I don’t know which comp has U1 Optos and which one has U2. Wouldn’t that matter?

U1 matched pair and U2 matched pair are often the same. If one set has a slightly longer release time we mark them for U1 but often this is a very small difference.

Thanks Joe. I will give it a try on the morning.

Ok! Victory, the rearranging of the opts did the trick. Thanks for your patience!

Having calibration issues. The unit passes signal and the gain reduction knobs reduce output and the output knobs increase output. The VUs on the unit work, but they seem to be unaffected by adjustments to blue trim pots.

Post a photo of the top of the dingo pcb here with 2 x 99v removed so I can check it over. Do you have C18 0.1uF fitted on both dingo pcbs?

They should be the same as from our email correspondence. I’ll post updated images of them installed. C18 is installed on both dingos. C11 is not installed in either, but you said that shouldn’t matter. I installed all components that were shipped except C11.

Ok need to stay with E-mail or forum as linking both is near impossible for me.

So with threshold and makeup CCW and switching between off to VU or GR you are getting the same level audio out of the comp? The meter lights in VU / GR? You can get the 1.23vac between pin 2 & 3 of the output XLR? Does the meter show and level in VU ? And in GR ?

I apologize. I was having issues logging in to the forum, but I was finally able to get it working. I’ll hopefully be able to get back to it tomorrow evening. (Sunday. I’m a vampire and can’t sleep)

Hi,

Had the kit for a few months just getting around to building it. All is going smoothly thus far. Just one thing I have a question about:

The switches that go on the mini boards for "Link" and "Power"....do they have to be oriented in a particular way? You, soldered in flipped one way or the other?

Thanks

The toggles can go either way around. We using put all the keyway in the thread to one side for neatness. Remove all nuts and washers and fit spacer pcb and softly hand tight one nut to hold each switch to spacer. Then fit lock washers. Fit toggles into MAC front panel from behind and fit nuts to front and tighten with 8mm socket.

Apologies for the basic questions, I'm a bit overly cautious with these things...

The MAC's dingo kit comes with a 100k resistor that isn't on the build instructions -- I'm assuming this indeed goes into the board as its spot isn't in () ?

Also, the dingo build instructions say to put in four 47pF caps, while the kit comes with 5. The fifth spot is bracketed [], so I'm assuming it isn't mandatory. Also, this bracketed (optional?) cap happens to be in a different spot on the current kit's pcb vs. the one used for the photos -- is this correct? Follow the current board, not the photos?

thanks much for the help

Yes fit 100k to the pcb it just keeps the opamp referenced to 0v if a ribbon cable is unplugged. The dingo will work without it but make a loud bang when ribbon cables are plugged in and out. So better to have it.

Yes correct only 4 x 47pF needed. You can fit or not the 5th one it makes no difference.

I don't remember any changes to the red dingo pcb but always follow the overlay of the pcb you have.

I've just realized the photo I was referencing was with the pcb upsidedown -- my mistake -- this is why I need to be extra careful, ha. I will fit all five to be safe.
Thank you for the very quick response.
