Go between troubleshooting - phantom

Post by desol »

Hi guys,

I have a Go between that's popping when 48v is enabled/disabled; the phase/pad pop when the 48v is activated too. The popping seems to gradually decrease after time at the pad/phase when repeatedly switched. Is this a short? Bad cap?

Also, on the channels that do work ok...i have 48v at the mic input, but i also have 48v at the input transformer primary?
Is this normal?

Thanks

Hi guys,

Found the problem with the popping. A very fine piece of copper strand on the backside. Removed, tested good.

Still wondering about the 48v at the input transformer primary?

When phantom is switched on the primary will also float at 48v as the path from the XLR pin 2 & 3 to the primary is directly connected. This is normal :-)
