Simple Zener Regulator kit Now Available

Post by Joe Malone »

The simplest kit to build we have ever made.

Image + Image

This kit used with our prebuilt 48v 380mA SMPS power supply can make a 24v rail and 48v rail to run 2 x neve 1272 / 1290 / 1073 modules or V672 Telefunken modules with phantom power. Making the simplest power supply with no power supply related hum problems. It also can run on any voltage in the world (90vac to 240vac).

Doh, it just hit me... So I could make a couple of the 1290's and, using these kits, run them off the same supply I use for my Baby Animals. I wanted to include a couple of 1290's in my "mixer" setup, so this is just the ticket.

I have one of these now. I forgot to write down what terminal is what on before soldering the euroblock. Can you advise which is which? Also should the heat sink be isolated from the chassis?

Do not bolt the transistor metal tab straight to the metal case it is sitting at 48v potential. The Simple Zener kit comes with a insulation kit so it can be bolted to the metal case or heatsink without the transistor metal tab actually shorting to the case or heatsink.

More info on how to use the grey silicon insulator and white bush go to the Power supply assembly instructions at the bottom of the page at the link below.
