Re: Regurgitator kit Build Thread
Joe...looking for something to make a hybrid telephone interface to record from and play back to a telephone connection. considering 2 Reguritator one for in and one for out, connected up to a circuit like this http://www.infomatek.com/stats/images/tm_adapt.gif do you think this would work? can you ...

Re: 8PAKAMP KIT BUILD THREAD
That makes a lot more sense now. I'm not sure about the R3&4 (after the input cd blocking cap) how much gain would that give on its own with them as links (0ohm). At this time I have ~170 ohms instead of the R11 1K on the diagram. I recall that you mentioned 470 ohm would give +6db and 220 around an...

Re: 8PAKAMP KIT BUILD THREAD
Well I have rewired the speaker connection to have the grounds all back to the amp board ground plane. The rca's have all got cable grounds to amp board also. I can play signal on all channels and its all working fine. If any of the inputs are open/floating ie no signal input then all the channels w...

Re: 8PAKAMP KIT BUILD THREAD
Joe do you mean the rca end should have a single ground back to the ground plane via a seperate cable and have the ground / shield connected at the board end for each input cable? Right now i have a single ground cable from the chassis star to all the rca grounds, and then there is no ground connect...

Re: 8PAKAMP KIT BUILD THREAD
No thoughts or insights anyone before I gut this install and attack it another way? I'm thinking to drop the 1k resistors down to like 238 as with unbalanced i need a gain of about 27-28 ideally, and recall I trade off another -6db for non balanced so i am back down at 21db again with 476ohms...238 ...

Re: 8PAKAMP KIT BUILD THREAD
Well the bad news is on power up I have a 25v positive to 25v negative voltage swing on all outputs on every speaker output to ground. Some of them appear to swing back and forth with no inputs connected or loads... Edit...actually they all swing...but all play absolutely fine when they have an audi...

Re: 8PAKAMP KIT BUILD THREAD
I ended up using 476ohms (2x238 in series) but im using un balanced so might have to drop that to maybe 238 to get back up to around 27-28db gain. Will have to measure it once I am done. http://www.walaneh.com/xpl/xpl193.jpg http://www.walaneh.com/xpl/xpl192.jpg Much the same as my 5 channel version...

Re: 8PAKAMP KIT BUILD THREAD
Joe, for the gain (I am no expert in such matters) if you are bridging or paralleling what gain changes would the be if any? Bridging 12dB Wattage, 6dB Voltage level. Parallel no change in dB level. Likewise if one uses balanced or unbalanced inputs does the gain change at all? Unbalanced -6dB comp...

Re: 8PAKAMP KIT BUILD THREAD
Thanks Joe, thats perfect...27-28dB gain will be just nice.

Re: 8PAKAMP KIT BUILD THREAD
Hi Joe,
What is the gain of this 8 channel channel setup...and the singular module too while we are at it? I'm guessing in the 28-30dB range.
Cheers
Paul

Re: 8PAKAMP KIT BUILD THREAD
Joe... just a question with respect to the single channel operations of this and the 60watt board too I guess
Is this considered a fully balanced design? as the output is to ground....or would one need 2 channels bridged to effectively claim a fully balanced config?

Re: 8PAKAMP KIT BUILD THREAD
Transformer cover is JS standard 6" PVC end cap (Made in Japan) ~A$20 - the JS standard is for high pressure use and is much thicker walled so was able to drill and tap 3mm threaded holes to attach it to to the cover. Needed to be bigger than normal as the top cover slides from front to back and nee...

Re: 8PAKAMP KIT BUILD THREAD
All done, fired it up and works as I knew it would with no faults... Thanks Joe for a sweet board... Once I get it on the big Yamaha speakers I'll push it a bit...no fuses in there now as the fuse holders broke, then I'll see how good it sounds. http://www.walaneh.com/xpl/xpl27.jpg http://www.walane...
