thanks for the info Joe. Sounds like impedance and transformer/op amp combos are what i'll go with in the very near future.
thanks.
paul.

Impedance and other things
Hi all, Couple of questions. I have 4 channels of BAs with different Op Amp/Input Transformer configs and Im thinking i'd like to mod them so they're got the same op amps/input transformers. 1. Currently none of the channels have variable impendance. What would this give me and how does it modify th...

Re: BA Issue
CL didnt do anything for me. I checked all my voltages and they seemed quite ok. it only seems that this occurs when gain is up really high so if need be i can get away with not using excessive gain nearly at max level so its not a show stopper. i'll email joe and see what he can tell me. thanks for...

Re: BA Issue
thanks chris. i am planning to do those fixes this weekend, hopefully it sorts out the issue i am experiencing; just ensuring the issue im having wasnt related to something else. Just to clarify on the fix before i go destroying something What do you mean by cut a trace? Does it mean to cut the pcb ...

BA Issue
morning all, one of my BA channels is acting a little strange. it seems to work until i put the gain up and make a loud sound and the pre amp start making a thumping sound that is repetitious that continues until i turn the gain down and im not sure what the cause is. This pre is using the OEP trans...

ahahh!! thanks for the info Joe.
Is there anywhere that points that out? If not if might be a great idea to get a FAQ written for these???

Baby Animal - 10uF Cap
Hey all,
Im building my 4th BA and this one has a slightly different PCB to the older ones I have done. This one contains a 10uf cap, whilst the older ones do not. What is this for? Cant seem to find any info on the PCBs???

no wonder i couldnt find the 68R on my garage floor!!Joe Malone wrote: 27k is for OEP Rload when using fixed impedance. RG = 68R. (Latest batch of 100 BA kits were found to be missing 68R.)

Re: Finally putting my BAs into a rack case
thanks for the template chris, however i did learn that it wasnt the best for my altronics rack so i did all the measurements from scratch and got them to fit perfectly (only have 1mm of room for movement on the inside). just need to drill for the powerswitch, xlrs and power dc plug! the 4th BA arri...

Re: Finally putting my BAs into a rack case
ahh yes, nice of me to leave out the finer details!
All 4 BAs will utilise volume pots whilst only the first 2 shall have DI. None are variable impendance and there will be no meters.

Finally putting my BAs into a rack case
hi all, i have 3 BAs all built up and its time i placed them into my rack case. I'd like to know what everyone else has done to measure up where they need to drill the holes in the panels to ensure the switches and inputs on the BA fit in nice and easy. Is there a template someone has for a standard...
