I didn't have (and probably couldn't afford) a film cap that big. I have transformer outs on almost all my BAs and BADs and I do drive 600 ohm loads (sometimes less...I'm prone to mult abuse) so I don't want to go low on the cap value. For what it's worth, I got curious/bored a while back and decided to play around with the caps in a BAD build (dual 99V, Carnhill in, Jensen out). If memory serves, I tried a bunch of things and eventually wound up replacing the last cap (C12) with a 1000uf Nichicon KZ, along with replacing the two ...

Well, this is embarrassing.
I spent days tearing this little sucker apart trying to figure out why it was suddenly, after months of reliable operation, giving me problems. Turns out that my patch bay was going bad instead and that the Baby Animals are just fine. D'oh!

Intermittent Scratchiness w/ Baby Animals
I have four channels of Baby Animal mic pres. Recently, I've noticed that with phantom power on, all of the channels will slowly build up a scratchiness that will get louder until there is a moderately loud pop, then they will be quite for a few minutes before repeating the process. The same problem...
