Re: Mac Rack Calibration
Hello. First time here .I have been assembling a Mac Rack kit for a friend. I have reached the calibration stage and got everything set up perfectly on each channel separately but when I try to link the two channels I have had minor problems. I have a tone generator at 1Kh and 2 Voltmeters setup .T...

Re: Stereo VU meter kit BUILD THREAD
Cool. Must be very high Mcd LED like 10000. More efficient less power neededmobtownstudios wrote: ↑Tue Apr 13, 2021 12:03 amPerfect!
I put the 3k3 resistor in place of the 680 and it's working WAY better for me!
Thanks Joe!

Re: VU BUFFER & PEAK LED KIT BUILD THREAD
Yes disable the rectifier on the vu buffer and wire the meter direct to the buffer pcb without the 3k6 resistor as the buffer has a 3k3 resistor on it already.

Re: BA BA2 BA4 BAD Dual99v Build Thread
Hi Joe, I got everything together on my dual 99V and it sounds great aside from some noise issues! I looked through the forum, and it seems someone else has had this issue. It sounds like some electrical interference or grounding issue. can this be fixed by getting a power conditioner that separate...

Re: VU BUFFER & PEAK LED KIT BUILD THREAD
Hi there I just purchased and received the VU Buffer and Peak LED kit and am planning my install. :D I have a few questions regarding damping my VU meter as described in the Original VU Buffer Kit build thread. I am using a NOS Simpson VU meter and plan to limit the VU meter needle spiking on power...

Re: Stereo VU meter kit BUILD THREAD
Hi Mat yes they look fine. Any 2 clear white 5mm led around 1000mcd or more will work in there with the 680R. Each led has about 2.5 to 3.5v across it. So voltage at terminals will be 5v to 7v as the 2 are in series. They maybe brighter or duller so RLamp can be changed afterwards to make brighter ...

Re: Stereo VU meter kit BUILD THREAD
Hi Mat RLamp for the 5v led backlight is 680R. You have fitted the 10R option for meters with lamp backlight. Meter backlights should have been very bright for a second or two before burning out. If not hopefully you have the lamp wires reversed. Change to 680R first before reversing if that is the ...

Re: VU BUFFER & PEAK LED KIT BUILD THREAD
Hi JD I am away on an island with very little internet connection until the 12th April. Your questions are very beginner electronics so would take to much time that I don’t have for me to explain to get you up to speed. Have a read of some Douglas Self books. And there are several good opamps explai...

Hi guys! My DIY built meter has fast ballistics on the left and slow on the right, in the Green over red mode. Looks like just the red segments have the issue. Can anyone suggest what I should check? Copy of my reply to your email Can you put in a 1khz tone to light up all but last led and turn ton...

Re: LA500A opto comp leveling amp BUILD THREAD 500/51X
Hi! I´ve build two of this awesome comp. One is working great ( highly recommended ) , the other still not right. It passes audio, bypass is ok. I can see gain reduction in the meter but it doesn´t happen at the output. I see I need to unsolder the meter to look in the detector pcb so I ask for adv...

Re: VU2 stereo VU buffer kit Build thread
Ok. That makes sense. I've just done a test on my SEW ST-475's with your original mono VU buffers and they don't scale to 1dB increments exactly either. Ive been mixing TV shows with Pro Tools for about 9 years on these and they are fine. I'm wondering if properly scaled ones will make a difference...

Re: VU2 stereo VU buffer kit Build thread
But there is no voltage coming from the 'M' + & - now though. Is this how it's supposed to be? Yes without the rectifier it will be AC volts going to the meter. With rectifier on VU2 then the meter will get DC. Ok. That makes sense. I've just done a test on my SEW ST-475's with your original mono V...
