Re: VU2 stereo VU buffer kit Build thread

Hi there, First of all, thank you so much for providing these incredible kits, you are a worldwide treasure! My question is a little long, I will try to be succinct. I built the buffer kit for a pair of DuKane branded Dixson meters. I fitted them with jumpers, as the Dixson meters have internal rec...

Re: POWER PLANT BUILD THREAD

Yeah, the metal tabs of the regs are facing away from the PCB. Here's some pictures. Thanks for the help! Sorry had missed this post reply. The low volts is due to the power 115v / 230v switch being fitted backwards so 115v and 230v markings are swapped If you want to run on 115v you will need to s...

Re: Talkback Comp Build Thread

Is there anyway to add very simple GR metering on this? Doesn't need to be accurate. I've VU buffer pcb's handy if that simplify things? thanks Paul A high brightness led across the threshold plug wires will give a compression threshold led. A uA meter across the same wires may be able to be calibr...

On the Dual99v kits, where do I attach the phantom power led? Do I just attach it to the legs of the 48v toggle?

Yes led solders to the top 2 legs of the 48v switch. Long led leg goes to the switch leg closest to the edge of the pcb.

Re: BA BA2 BA4 BAD Dual99v Build Thread

I'm currently building a BAD Dual99v module and I've only just noticed that R7 is left blank. I've already added R7 to the board and before I cut it off, I just wanted to understand what would happen if I left it in place? Doesn't matter if R7 is fitted or not. Just make sure you fit the E to C wir...

Please excuse the baaasic question, how exactly would I wire “across the +out & -out with a 1k pot”? I know what a 1k pot is. :)
Cheers.

I have no idea as to what product this relates to as you have not posted on a build thread to be able to answer your question correctly?

Re: A2D

Hey Joe, Thanks again for your reply. I've attached photos of the top and the bottom of the board, as clear as I could get of the analog sections, and the schematic. Thanks, Craig EDIT We removed all 150R feeding 10uF and 9.53k resistors feeding opamp inputs and added wire under pcb between 10pin s...

Re: A2D

Thanks for the reply Joe. Interesting stuff! I have an old SM Pro Audio ADAT board, and would love try hooking up a couple of JLM14's to it and see what it sounded like. If you can take a large clear in focus photo of the top and bottom of the SM Pro PCB I am sure I can draw the mod on there for yo...

Re: A2D

I was always fascinated with this project, and hated to see that it wasn't issued as a kit. Were any components removed from the A/D board, or did the signal go through all the input circuitry before the A/D chip? Thanks Craig A row of caps were removed to allow the input transformer to feed direct...

Re: POWER PLANT BUILD THREAD

Hello everybody, first post here. I've built the power plant and powered it up without issue, however, I'm getting around 17v and 35v on the 24v and 48v rails, respectively. Adjusting the trim pots doesn't afford the amount of adjusting required, so what did I do wrong here? Mains voltage coming in...

Re: VU2 stereo VU buffer kit Build thread

HI Alex Sorry for the stuff up. Great to hear you worked it out. Strange the wrong colour code. Are the 3 pin cables in the kit short wire (150mm to 200mm) or ones with locks and 300mm wire? Photo would be great as the colour code shouldn't be changing if the right cables are being packed in the ki...
