Re: A2D

Hey Joe, Thanks again for your reply. I've attached photos of the top and the bottom of the board, as clear as I could get of the analog sections, and the schematic. Thanks, Craig EDIT We removed all 150R feeding 10uF and 9.53k resistors feeding opamp inputs and added wire under pcb between 10pin s...

Re: A2D

Thanks for the reply Joe. Interesting stuff! I have an old SM Pro Audio ADAT board, and would love try hooking up a couple of JLM14's to it and see what it sounded like. If you can take a large clear in focus photo of the top and bottom of the SM Pro PCB I am sure I can draw the mod on there for yo...

Re: A2D

I was always fascinated with this project, and hated to see that it wasn't issued as a kit. Were any components removed from the A/D board, or did the signal go through all the input circuitry before the A/D chip? Thanks Craig A row of caps were removed to allow the input transformer to feed direct...

Re: Stereolab kit Build Thread

Hi Here is the built I made using 4 stereolab (= 8 unbalanced in to 8 balanced out)... tested & work... just try with tone generator, can't wait to used with 'real' sound... if you have suggestion or recommandation it's welcome and still time... about the trim pot J3L/J3R ! i was thinking they ...

Re: POWER PLANT BUILD THREAD

Hello everybody, first post here. I've built the power plant and powered it up without issue, however, I'm getting around 17v and 35v on the 24v and 48v rails, respectively. Adjusting the trim pots doesn't afford the amount of adjusting required, so what did I do wrong here? Mains voltage coming in...

Re: VU2 stereo VU buffer kit Build thread

HI Alex Sorry for the stuff up. Great to hear you worked it out. Strange the wrong colour code. Are the 3 pin cables in the kit short wire (150mm to 200mm) or ones with locks and 300mm wire? Photo would be great as the colour code shouldn't be changing if the right cables are being packed in the ki...

Re: VU2 stereo VU buffer kit Build thread

I found the mistake ... that's almost embarrassing for me ... The construction manual states: input cable red = + yellow = - black = ground But the supplied plugs have the assignment red = - and yellow = +, if the plugs are mounted as on the pictures. My mistake was to orient myself to the c...

Re: VU2 stereo VU buffer kit Build thread

OK makes no sense at all then. If you connect the VU buffer across the balanced out of D/A etc does it still have the same problem? Where did you connect the unbalanced board to as this is transformer floating out by the looks? So should not have worked on the output? I just tested it directly on t...

Re: VU2 stereo VU buffer kit Build thread

What frequency does it roughly roll off at? Do the blue caps have 105 or 104 written on them? Does the china board have balanced in? The frequency goes from 10hz to 22khz at the delta 1072 output. The vu-meter shows at 100 hz only -15db, at 10khz it indicates + 4db for example. When i use a fullran...

Re: VU2 stereo VU buffer kit Build thread

So the balanced audio output this is wired across sounds like full audio range when you listen music? As your description sounds like when transformer output is open one leg so only high frequency bleed comes out. Yes, the Audiosignal is full range. I have testet the VU-meter with another bufferboa...

Re: VU2 stereo VU buffer kit Build thread

That should work fine. Need some photos of the VU2 pcb top and bottom and wiring as it is at the moment. Are you driving balanced input signal in ? Yes, i drive it with balanced input signal. Here the Photos: So the balanced audio output this is wired across sounds like full audio range when you li...

Re: VU2 stereo VU buffer kit Build thread

Hello, have the following problem: at high frequencies I have full rash, at low frequencies only very low rash on the VU-meter. At the same outputlevel. Is that so normal? I have 500 uA VU-meters... Alex No not normal. What meters are you using? Do they have diode bridge in the meter? Have you fitt...

Re: 8PAKAMP & 12PAKAMP KIT BUILD THREAD

Hey there, I am really happy with my 12PAKAMP, powering a pair of LXmini+. The woofers and subs are powered by a pair of bridged amp channels each and the tweeters by a single channel each. It is powered by an 18 V transformer. The amp is running quite a while now, but I finally put it into a nice ...

Re: AC/DC & POWERSTATION KIT BUILD THREAD

Hey Joe. Kinda stumped. I'm hoping you can help. I'm trying to setup my V5. I have 30VAC unregulated, no CT coming off my power transformer. I set the doubler to D, and jumped C1 and C2 to drop the 48V to 24V as recommended in a previous post. When I connect one secondary to AC and the other to 0V ...
