Re: VU BUFFER & PEAK LED KIT BUILD THREAD
Hi Joe
I need to make my VU buffers switchable between 0VU=+4dBu and 0VU=+14dBu, while the peak LED is supposed to always monitor the same level (+18dBu). Do you see an easier solution than lifting one leg of VR1 and VR2 and switching resistors in line/out of line with these?
thanks
Jens

Re: LA500 Slow attack mod
That mod is a great idea. I had problems with bass guitars on a few occations since the LA500 obviously is too fast - what a statement about an opto comp.... :D This mod seems to perfectly adress this problem. I´m going to check it out as soon as my purse allows. Btw, Joe, I´m still in high praises ...

Re: INX5 BUILD THREAD
A little update to my last review. I´ve used the LA500 on sax last weekend at a show which I frequently mix ( http://www.michaeljacksontributeshow.de/ ). Creamy, easy to dial in and versatile is what I´d call that comp. It was the best sound I had with that player for ages! I´m going to sell my othe...

Re: INX5 BUILD THREAD
Yesterday I had the chance to test Holger´s MAC500 and compare it to an original LA3A as well as two other 51x opto compressor kits (one of them still being in prototype state). To make it short, the MAC500 hands down beat the sh*t out of the competitors. I was totally floored. Even the LA3A sounded...

That´s a great idea. What´s the metering range, Joe? Do the ballistics spec to a standard? If so which one?

Re: MAC - Micro Auto Compressor
Hi Joe
I´m thinking of fitting some of these into my console. But space is limited, so I need to know the dimensions of the MAC and DIngo PCBs for further planning.
thanks

Joe, is there an option to include the DIngo VCA section into the signal chain with the Opto? I´m thinking of a box à la squash-it-to-hell with both Opto and VCA characteristics. Having the possibility to catch transients and then tastefully compress it with an opto is what I pretty often do with 11...

wasn´t the saturation in 70s recordings caused from shitty tape? What about tape compression while recording? We used a cassete deck for masterig a CD of my band just to get that sound. This did the trick. If you want transformer saturation while recording then use a mike with output tranny and load...
