Re: Dual balanced (or unbalanced) outs on a BA?
Thanks -- I asked about levels because I've seen several pieces of gear that offer an unbalanced output at 6db down from the balanced output, usually because there's a transformer on one and not on the other. Thus, I presumed that would be the "easy" way to do it. I don't really care about driving l...

Dual balanced (or unbalanced) outs on a BA?
I'd like to know if there's a way to add a second balanced or unbalanced output to a Baby Animal premap. Ideally, I'd like both outputs to be balanced or unbalanced (so there's no difference in output level between the two jacks). Thanks!

Hmmm.... Looking at that connector on the PCB makes me wonder... Will there be a version that can attach to the DI connector on a Baby Animal PCB? Or, for added fun, if it can somehow be wired into the circuit (maybe in a BAD) so both the DI and the compressor can be connected. Frankly, I'd sell my ...

I'm a programmer by profession and thus somewhat succeptible to the "more widgets" mentality; I'll probably use input iron so that I can vary the gain. It's not very iPod of me to think that way, but I like options when it comes to stuff I'm building for myself. In that vein I'll probably order the ...

Cool, thanks! That pretty much nails it. I reviewed the BAD pcbs and I can see how everything would fit together. Is there a way to wire up the BADs so they don't use input iron? I like iron, don't get me wrong, but there's a fair amount in the signal path as-is (mic'ed signals go through a JLM 1:4 ...

Right, I've seen the CMoy and a couple of other things, but most of those are made to run off of batteries or at a lower voltage than that put out by the power supply used for the Baby Animal (the smaller one, +/- 24v). I'm not quite ready yet to futz around with redoing one of those schematics to d...

...Adding, can the balanced and unbalanced inputs on the Dingo boards be used simultaneously? The outputs can be used simultaneously, so that would take care of my output requirements. If both inputs can be used at the same time then that's a big plus, I don't mind if one of the inputs is unbalanced...

Using two Dingos as headphone amp?
I'm looking to build something like this: A headphone amp with two inputs, one line-level output and one headphone jack with independent volume controls for the output and headphones. I'd like to be able to run it off of the psu I already have for my Baby Animals, if possible. Would two Dingo kits b...

Finito... for now anyways. There are a couple of minor (to me) issues, but the thing generally works. I may mess around with the design a bit more to see if I can lower the signal loss (currently about 18 db) and make some other improvements (there are certain settings which cause volume changes and...

Another update. For christmas I got a couple of tools (including a metal punch for doing faceplates) and a rack case, among other goodies. I've tested the circuit posted above with slightly different routing and no resistor on the ground pin on input into the mixing transformers. I tested half of th...

I've made some changes based on the schematic in this paper: http://music-club.rutgers.edu/headfonz/NYDave/SMPE_4409-MGM_console.pdf See pdf page 4, Figure 6 specifically. I noticed that they have the resistor on the middle pin set to half the attenuator resistance. Also, they put the resistor betwe...

...O.k, here are a couple. The first is a detail view showing the circuit for one of the four mixing transformers on input: (Note: old links removed, updated schematics are in the next post) Excuse the cross-posting, I need to consolidate the various threads from the various boards that are running ...

Another update: after experimenting with the panpot design I'd originally picked, I figured out it won't work. There were various issues with the design, but the biggest is that the mixing transformer needs to see a constant impedance at input and output. So my next task is to test using two constan...
