Re: BA BA2 BA4 BAD Dual99v Build Thread
Ha, so that pesky 51R at the output was measuring like 6k or thereabouts. Strange, replaced it and now I have full output! Thanks Joe. I just have one final question, the circuit does seem to have a bit bit of distortion, at least compared to my other BA's- although my other BA's have jlm1.4 and cin...

Re: BA BA2 BA4 BAD Dual99v Build Thread
With impedance fully clockwise I measure 1.2k across RL Am getting 25.3v at Op amp +Out My output transformer seems to read: 53.7ohms between +1 and +2 38.2ohms between +1 and +3 16.9ohms between +2 and +3 23.1ohms between -1 and -2 7.8 ohms between -1 and -3 16.9ohms between -2 and -3 Maybe this ou...

Re: BA BA2 BA4 BAD Dual99v Build Thread
Thanks for your help Joe 1) 21.3 ohms between pins 2 and 3 of xlr input 2) RL = 10k resistor and 100k pot 3) Ratio is set low or middle position of the pins 4) Not a huge amount of hiss, but at about the last 20% of the gain knob's maximum hiss starts and does increase until the gain is maxed. The d...

Re: BA BA2 BA4 BAD Dual99v Build Thread
So can anyone shed some light on my low output distorted BA circuit? My other channels are working fine except for one and I have tried everything. This circuit in question is an OEP/99v/1.1.1 combination. Circuit was working fine before, but suddenly now I have this medium range output, - well I me...

Re: Finally putting my BAs into a rack case
Why do so many people skip the variable impedance????? Its your pre, but I would definitely include it if you are planning now to drill the front panel. Whats the cost/trouble to include one more pot and one resister. With the OEP input xformer I will accept the variable pot is not imediately inspri...

VU Buffer and LED -Please help me understand
Hi I have a project and I want to use the JLM Sew meters, buffer kit and blue led kit. My power transformer has a secondary output of 6.3vac at 2 amps. I realise the vu buffer wants 9-30vdc and the blue led wants 12vdc. Is there a way to provide juice for the Meter and Leds from the transformer? Do ...

Re: MAC - Micro Auto Compressor
Chrisp and Holger - thanks to both of you for your encouragement and advice. You guys demonstrate that DIY is a kind and welcoming environment and I wonder how life would be if such socio-ethos were adopted in the outside world :) Guess I will give the MAC a go. My real wish is to warm up the signal...

Re: MAC - Micro Auto Compressor
Given the excitement of a new kit coming out, I am surprised there aren't millions of postings about the MAC. I am eager to build this one but like the timid little baby that I am, I still hoping to let others be the guinea pigs first and then offer their advice and feedback before I plough into som...

Re: Micro Auto Compressor
Awesome Holger - thanks!
For the point of interest, could you tell us your signal chain so I have something to reference this to? Also interested in the op amps used for the Dingo like Blake suggests.
Thanks once again

Re: Micro Auto Compressor
So has anyone got a MAC up and running yet?
Wanna share your thoughts on the sound? I wait with baited breath.

Hi Joe Are you at all considering making/selling 1unit rack cases for the MAC? I have this horrible feeling that with 500 series being all the recording gear fashion at the moment, those of us in 19inch rack land will be left behind. Other wise, anyone out there want to make and sell me a 1uni...
