Re: AC/DC & POWERSTATION KIT BUILD THREAD
Hi Joe, Would the ACDC PSU be enough power to replace the PSU of my Amek/TAC Bullet (10/4/2) ? It's dying, and despite my efforts to repair it, I'm starting to think that it would be healthier to simply replace it. The schematic is here if you want to take a look... https://pygmeestudio.files.wordpr...

Re: Regurgitator kit Build Thread
Well, I redid every solder joint on the one that was problematic, built the 13 other ones, and the unit works perfect. Thanks for your support Joe, and sorry for the bothering.

Re: Regurgitator kit Build Thread
Well, I did build another one, very carefully, and the problem is the same. I swapped the 5532 with one I had lying around, and the circuit behaves exactly the same. I'm starting to think that my measurement method is all wrong, and that the circuit is working...

Re: Regurgitator kit Build Thread
HI,
I did measure them when building, and unsoldered one today, and also measured the ones in the other kits (looking the same), all 15k !
Are the 18dB of gain available only when connecting a balances input ? My main concern is the fast clipping of the device, around -8dBu when pushed to max gain...

My voltages are : pin 1 : 18mV pin 2 : 0V pin 3 : 0V pin 4 : -14,9V pin 5 : 0V pin 6 : 0V pin 7 : -18mV pin 8 : 14,9V Here are some pictures of the PCB. The connections are temporary for testing purposes. Thanks for your help ! https://pygmeestudio.files.wordpress.com/2016/10/img_1947.jpg https://py...

Re: Regurgitator kit Build Thread
Hi Joe, I've built one kit to test it. It balances fine, works fine, but it seems that I can't get those 18dB of gain (I need 14). The plan here is to raise the -10dBu direct output of a Studer 169 to +4dBu. I inject a -10dBu sine (0,244Vac on the input between 0V and 2), and with the trim pot turne...

Re: Regurgitator kit Build Thread
We use our tiny 48v 15w internal SMPS turned down to 36v and fit 18v zeners to the regurgitator pcb to make +/-18v. A 6.8k resistor in series with a cheap led between _18v and +18v works fine. Would this be robust enough for 14 modules ? Do you have an idea of the current draw for 14dB of gain, or ...

Re: Regurgitator kit Build Thread
Alright, that's perfect. One last question, and I stop bothering you... What would you recommend for powering those and adding a on/off LED ? I'm not very keen on putting a power tx in side the rack because of the un balanced wires in it. Do you have a clean way to make this externally, via say a SM...

Re: Regurgitator kit Build Thread
Okay, thank you for those precisions.
I just need to balance the 14 direct outputs from the desk, 14 jack inputs at the back, and 14 XLR outputs in front of the rack. So I planned to wire the jack ins to the PCBs, and attach them at the front panel by the XLR sockets. Do I need more than 14 PCBs ?

Re: Regurgitator kit Build Thread
Hi Joe, I'm planning on building a balancing unit for a Studer 169 with 14 regurgitators, and currently designing the front panel. Could you please precise the spacing between XLRs, I'm not sure where tu put the 1'' spacing you specified. If you have somewhere the spacing between the 22mm XLR holes ...

Re: TREX and TREX2 Transistor regulator kit
Ok, thanks for the answer. That V6 PS seems to be a very good alternative, maybe for a cleaner build, so I think I'll wait for it, as I have some other studer channels on the way. I'll check for its availability, thanks again !

Re: TREX and TREX2 Transistor regulator kit
Okay, I'm finally trying to get this done. So what I need is an AC/DC and a reversed (and modified for -24V) TREX2, fed by C8 negative leg. Am I right ? About the power transformer, I found a 40VA 230V to 2x24vac ( http://www.conrad.fr/ce/fr/product/710374/Transformateur-torique-40-VA-primaire-230-V...

Thanks a lot for those explanations ! I'll order within the next week I think, so thanks (again) for the reverse TREX2 option !

Re: TREX and TREX2 Transistor regulator kit
Hi ! I'm currently thinking about racking 2 Studer 900 input channels. The rails needed are +/- 15v, 48v, -6v, -24v. Some people experienced hum problems when getting all the rails from a single transformer, so I plan to get the audio dedicated rails (+/-15 and 48v) from an ACDC kit, and the logic r...

Re: MONO Ver2 Mic pre kit BUILD THREAD
Working perfect indeed ! Fired up first try, everything working fine. I'm quite happy (and a bit proud) as a first "serious" DIY project... Had only a small problem to fit the circuit in the case because I pushed the JLM99v's sockets a bit too deep, but solved that after some unsoldering struggle......
