Re: BA BA2 BA4 BAD Dual99v Build Thread

Thanks Joe, do you think I could get one from an electronics shop? Just that the postage is more than the switch. :D Are there any specs I need to look out for?

Thanks for you help.

Re: BA BA2 BA4 BAD Dual99v Build Thread

I need to replace the power toggle switch on my BA4 mic pre rack. What type of toggle switch should I purchase to replace the current switch? I couldn’t find a parts list.

Thanks for your help. Love these mic pre’s

Re: LA500 opto comp leveling amp BUILD THREAD 500/51X

Great, thanks Joe. I only have one pair of LA500's in the rack so it appears I'm good to go just by pulling the threshold knobs out.

Thanks
AJ :)

Re: LA500 opto comp leveling amp BUILD THREAD 500/51X

Just wondering what the correct procedure is to stereo link a matched pair of LA500 compressors in an API 8 Slot Lunchbox that has a link switch on the back?

Thanks for our time.

Re: BA BA2 BA4 BAD Dual99v Build Thread

Hi Joe, I was wondering if you could tell me how I can test the Output voltages on the BA Mic pres so I can be sure there all on par. They all seem to be working well but I'm not convinced channel 3 is giving me the truth. When I measured between the 0V and the output on each channel with the unit o...

Re: BA BA2 BA4 BAD Dual99v Build Thread

Hi Joe, All fixed! :) You'll never guess what, I was checking my GAR2520 assembly instructions and saw that two transistors were in the wrong positions. I swapped them over and everything works. All four channels, no power issues, clean gain and quiet operation. I now have two spare 2520's. Cool. :)...

Re: BA BA2 BA4 BAD Dual99v Build Thread

Hi Joe, I built a new 2520 and I think it's definitely my OPAMP building. This one didn't work in a working channel. The power went in hiccup mode again when the OPAMP was in this working channel. But, when I placed a working OPAMP in Channel 3(not working I thought) I get clean signal as before. I ...

Re: BA BA2 BA4 BAD Dual99v Build Thread

Hi Joe, I plugged an OPAMP in that works and got 38V at +V, I then plugged in the new OPAMP I built and the power supply went into hiccup mode even though only three had OPAMPS were in three channels. I think it may be the OPAMP and not the BA Circut. I plugged suspect OPAMP into a working channel a...

Re: BA BA2 BA4 BAD Dual99v Build Thread

Hi Joe, I read somewhere on the forum that the EA2623 needed to be wired to the ground at the 0V on the PCB so the internal shields worked properly. Obviously misinterpreted the post. I will remove it. I guess the 0V just behind the secondary is the one, not 0V at the back of the PCB. Yes I have the...

Hi Joe,

I'm not sure the other picture was that great for checking for shorts. This one should be better. :)

Thanks AJ

Re: BA BA2 BA4 BAD Dual99v Build Thread

Hi Joe, underside of the PCM attached. When I say insert, I mean when I place the 2520 into the opamp slot On the pcb the power supply goes into hiccup mode. If I have three channels running all good. When I have all four channels running I have problems. However I have placed a Working opamp from o...

Re: BA BA2 BA4 BAD Dual99v Build Thread

Hi Joe, I don't think I fixed Channel 3 in my BA4 kit. I built a new GAR 2520 to replace the one that was a dud and when I insert into Channel 3 the Power Supply LED Blinks off like there is a short somewhere I guess. I have used a good opamp in Channel 3 and it works but I feel the sound is not as ...

Hi Joe,

If I can only get 10R 1/4W metal film resistors, is that going to be a problem?

Thanks

Re: BA BA2 BA4 BAD Dual99v Build Thread

Hi Joe, I had to get some more 220pf capacitors and got 220pf that is 221k, +-10%. Is this going to be a problem? I notice the other 221caps aren't marked with a letter? Also I need to get some more carbon 10R resitors. Is there a certain Watts I should get? Also do you have a suggestion for connect...

Re: BA BA2 BA4 BAD Dual99v Build Thread

Hi Joe, I think I've worked it out. I got 38V at +V and 19V at +N with no opamp but with the BA unit turned on. Then when I slotted in a working GAR 2520 I got 19V at +N, 19V at -N and 19v at OUT. All seemed to work ok. No smoke, no smells and good strong clean signal into Pro Tools with heaps of qu...
