Re: MAC Build Thread
Hey Joe, A couple of questions 1) I'm wondering if the MAC compressor kit can be run with just a normal bipolar power supply instead of 48v? 2) Does the MAC and Dingo have to run at +/-24? Can they run at +/- 16? 3) Does the MAC and Dingo have to run at the same voltage? I am gathering so because th...

Re: VU BUFFER KIT BUILD THREAD
Ok... a bit of an unusual question. Can I use this as a full or half-wave rectifier, buffer/gain for the front end of a LED VU meter? Would I just take the outputs from the meter output into the LED VU meter (either based on a typical LM339 or LM3916 circuit)?
Thanks.

Amazing, amazing, amazing. I love it. The only thing better might be a plasma meter. But this is going to be a huge seller Joe.

Re: JLM Opamps in instrument amplifiers
For a full complete answer you may need to post a schematic. If your amplifier has a Power Amp In or FX Return you could use this into a BAD (with a DI) and then into the FX return. It would bypass a lot of the existing preamp stage but there would still be some. To me that solution is a lot of over...

Re: DINGO PCB and kit Now Available
Yup, I think the plans I posted account for it all. You enter into the negative input of the balanced input only and the replacements I noted would be the gain that is added by the first opamp based on how many 100k resistor channel inputs you have. Unused channels would be need to be shunted to gro...

Re: DINGO PCB and kit Now Available
Hey Chrisp, Yes and No. You're right... if you want things to be absolutely correct you could use a dINgO in front of each channel to unbalance (among other things) before hitting the Virtual Summing Amplifier. This could get pretty expensive. My thought is just to run unbalanced into it. My modific...

Re: DINGO PCB and kit Now Available
Hey folks and Joe, I am always interested in not reinventing the wheel. I am (eventually) planning to do an active combining mixer and I was thinking the dINgO might be the perfect start. Correct me if I'm wrong... Here's the thought (based a lot on the 2520 datasheet applications). Load the first O...

Re: PowerStation Ver 2 PCB & Kits Now Available
Hey Joe,
What's the easiest way to turn the 48volt rail into a lower voltage rail for signal/relay/LED stuff? Say something like 5-15volt?

Re: New micpre...
You can buy a powerstation but things would work easier with the 48volt power supply that Joe sells along with a TREX regulator (for the VU buffer).
If you're new DIY then managing just DC power supply is easier than messing a transformer and a powersupply

Re: VU BUFFER KIT BUILD THREAD
So... potentially silly question... Can (with maybe some modifications) the buffer board be used to drive an LED instead of a VU. Could an LED be installed to show clipping or general signal presence?
Any thoughts on this?
Thanks.

Re: VU BUFFER KIT BUILD THREAD
Joe,
Which of your VU's that you are selling will fit in a 1 rack enclosure? Does just the JLM 34mm fit?
Thanks.

Re: VU BUFFER KIT BUILD THREAD
Just wondering. With the VU meter buffer board - would I simply through this on an output? Would my main output sound be messed with if I did that? Or should I have say a high impedance input unity gain opamp buffer first and then into the VU board?
Anyone?

Looks neat - handy - and the size of a DI box!
What do you think the cost will be on this one?

Re:
DI's usually just have the 2 jacks wired to each other for plugging into and out of the DI as a loop. You can do this by just wiring the second jack across the DI jack. Or if you want a driven output to isolate the load connect the output jack to the +out on the DI PCB with a 1k resistor. If I want...

Re: PowerStation Ver 2 PCB & Kits Now Available
You mention on the website that 2 AMPs is available by adding an additional 4 Diodes. Are these marked on the circuit board or is it something that has to be rigged up externally? Is this 2 Amps split among all 4 rails or for each set of 2? On mine I just put 1N4007 everywhere they were called for o...
